Kentico CMS Developer Training Course

A quick overview and thoughts on the very first training Kentico CMS Developer training course delivered through Oculus Digital in July 2010. Since then we've been around the country and even to Cape Town to deliver an intensive 5-day course!

So I’ve just finished the three day course and am absoloutely shattered! It's been an intense 3 days in which I have done most of the talking fielding questions and demonstrating various techniques and trying to get the best out of Kentico, at least to to extent of my knowledge.

The group were mix of .NET developers, front end developer and database manager. All their skills were to a high standard, and their knowledge was pretty extensive, however when it came to Kentico they were a bit baffled but it as to some one new to the system it a bit of an overload.

We got through the standard course content provided by Kentico in about a day and half, so there was another day and a half to fill. I didn’t really think that I could eke out a 3 day course.

We went throught the labs and had an extensive session in templated building, the difference betweem .aspx and portal engine method, building up a new ‘fake site’, on the last day we went through some of the other features content staging, debugging, implementing custom webparts, configuration and generally the more advanced features.

I’m considering extending the module and adding in an advanced module that covers off the a lot of the features I mentioned in the last paragraph.

What would also be nice would be able to build up a site from an html template and css, so we go through the initial steps of creating a new Kentico site.

I'm happy with the way the course went, I certainly learnt a few additional things as I went through the course materials and fielding the questions.
